Is Sasha Banks the Face of WWE?
As much as I hate to admit it, Sasha Banks has not yet been crowned the face of WWE. Despite her remarkable achievements as a five-time RAW women's champion, a SmackDown women's champion, and a two-time women's tag team champion, her journey to the top has been a complex one. Vince McMahon, often noted for his strategic bookings, appears to have kept her relatively quiet since her transition to the main roster. During her reigns, Sasha has been frequently set up as a fail in defending her titles, which has worked against her momentum.
Sasha Banks: A Talent Beyond Compare
Despite the setbacks, no one can deny Sasha's immense talent. When she was part of the Fast Four in NXT, known as the Workhorse Women, she showcased a remarkable range of skills. She excels in everything from charisma and attitude to swag, passion, and dedication. She spearheaded the success of women's matches during the Ha $('Hell In a Cell') PPV and has made it difficult for us to imagine future events without her presence in the women's division.
The Challenges of Navigating WWE
Wrestling, especially in an environment like WWE, involves more than just physical skill; it requires a strong on-screen presence. While Sasha already possesses formidable combat skills, her mic work has sometimes let her down. In contrast to recent improvements, such as Roman Reigns, her initial mic skills were less sharp. However, even a minor blip in one area of her performance shouldn't overshadow her undeniable talent and the impact she has on the women's division.
Wrestling's Unlucky Streak
One of the things that stands out about Sasha is that she has preferred partners over competing for titles on her own. This includes her relationship with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, as well as her role as Bayley's sidekick rather than a headliner. Vince and his creative team often seem to place her in a supporting rather than leading role, a decision that has drawn criticism. It's a trend that's seen with many talented wrestlers; however, this doesn't diminish Sasha's contributions and potential.
The Future for Sasha Banks
The hope, and the plea, for Vince McMahon to give Sasha the prominence she deserves is not only rooted in her talent but also in the legacy WWE could build with her. Just as Roman Reigns has improved both on screen and on the mic, there is room for Sasha to continue her development. If Vince could seize the opportunity to elevate her to the forefront of WWE, acknowledging her potential could serve as a much-needed boost for both the viewers and the wrestlers.
