Riding from Hyderabad to Nagpur on a Classic 350: Tips and Considerations

Peace bro! You can easily go on a bike ride from Hyderabad to Nagpur on a Classic 350 motorbike, provided you take some precautions and follow the necessary guidelines.

Preparation and Maintenance

To ensure a smooth ride, prepare your Classic 350 motorbike thoroughly. It's advisable to get it serviced one week before your trip. You'll need an extra clutch wire (12 or 13 being ideal) and a chain lube. Always wear protective accessories like gloves, boots, and a jacket to avoid any potential injuries.

I have personally completed a 492-km journey from Delhi to Kanpur on a Thunderbird, and even once without servicing the bike. Remember to take breaks when required, and avoid pushing yourself or the bike too hard. Cruise at 80 to 90 km/hr, and stretch your legs for 70 to 80 km segments at a time. My personal best stint was 153 km, and this will become easier as you grow more comfortable with the bike.

Speed and Safety

When it comes to speed, anything above 80 km/hr can start feeling a bit unstable. However, pushing the speed up to 100 km/hr is possible with caution. Make sure to take rest and give your bike a break every 150 to 200 kilometers to avoid any wear and tear.

State Borders and Permits

Traveling from one state to another, such as from Telangana (Hyderabad) to Maharashtra (Nagpur), isn't as straightforward as it might appear. State borders are typically sealed, and you may face serious issues if you attempt to cross them without permission. This means you should not consider this route if you plan to travel between states.

However, if you are within the same state, traveling from Hyderabad to Nagpur may be possible, provided the roads are in good condition. I have successfully done this trip on a Thunderbird 350 AVL (2003 model) and my Himalayan 2018, and I can confirm that the road conditions are suitable for a comfortable ride.

Legal Considerations

There are occasions when crossing state borders would be legally prohibited, such as during special circumstances or under emergency conditions. In such cases, you would need to seek prior permission from the authorities of the origin state with a valid reason, and this must be confirmed by the authorities before a travel permit can be granted or denied.

For now, if you're within the same state, you can enjoy your ride safely and responsibly. Always prioritize your safety, maintain your bike well, and take breaks when needed. Happy riding, and remember to enjoy the experience!
